Answer:

Test your skills by calculating the scores of winning hands played by pros in the Japanese M-League. Practice rapid score calculation with 1,594 different real-match hands.

How to Play

  • : You can check the Prevalent Wind and Seat Wind here. The center indicates the Prevalent Wind, and the bottom indicates the Seat Wind. If Riichi is declared, a Riichi stick will also be displayed here. Riichi deposits and Honba points from previous rounds are not included in the score. All calculations are based on 4-player Mahjong.
  • : You can check the Dora Indicator and Ura-dora Indicator here. The top is the Dora Indicator, and the bottom is the Ura-dora Indicator. Note that these are indicators, not the Dora tiles themselves.
  • : You can check the Hand Composition, Winning Tile, and Winning Method (Tsumo, Ron) here. Calculate the final score by summing up the Yaku based on this hand. All Occasional Yaku (Double Riichi, Under the Sea, etc.) that cannot be identified from the given information are excluded from the calculation.
  • : This is where you enter the Score the winner receives based on the above information. For Ron, enter the total score received. For Non-dealer Tsumo, enter the scores received from other Non-dealers and the Dealer respectively. For Dealer Tsumo, enter the score received from the Non-dealers. Please note that for Tsumo, you must enter the individual amounts each player pays, not the sum. Press the Okay button after entering the score to see the results.

Rules

  • 3 Red Five (Aka-dora) tiles are used (5-Man, 5-Pin, 5-Sou).
  • Tanyao is allowed even if the hand is open (Kuitanyao).
  • Kui-pinfu (an open hand resulting in 20 fu) is treated as 30 fu.
  • Assume that yaku that cannot be determined solely from the given information (Double Riichi, Under the Sea, etc.) are not present.
  • Trailing zeros in the answer can be omitted. (e.g., 2000 → 2)

Tsumo
  • Han Calculation: Since there is a Riichi stick out, we can tell the hand was won in a Riichi state. Also, because it is a Tsumo win, it is Riichi 1 Han and Fully Concealed Hand 1 Han. Furthermore, since it is closed, has no value tile pair, all melds are sequences, and it was won on a two-sided wait, Pinfu 1 Han is added. Checking the Dora indicator, there are no corresponding Dora tiles, and no other special Yaku are visible, so we can conclude the total is 3 Han.
  • Fu Calculation: Since it qualifies for Pinfu, there are no Fu other than the winning method, and according to the rule that Pinfu Tsumo does not award the +2 Fu for Tsumo, the Fu is at the minimum of 20 Fu.
  • Points Calculation: It is a Tsumo win and the Seat Wind is East (Dealer), so equal points are received from everyone. A Dealer's 3 Han 20 Fu is 1300 ALL. You may also input 13.

Q2.

Tsumo
  • Han Calculation: There is no Riichi stick, but since there are no separated tiles (melds), we can tell the hand was won in a closed state. Also, because it is a Tsumo win, it is Fully Concealed Hand 1 Han. Furthermore, since the winning tiles do not contain any terminal or honor tiles (1, 9, honor tiles), All Simples 1 Han is added. Checking the Dora indicator, there are no corresponding Dora tiles, and no other special Yaku are visible, so we can conclude the total is 2 Han.
  • Fu Calculation: Starting from the base 20 Fu, plus 2 Fu for Tsumo, 0 Fu for a dual pon wait, and 4 Fu for a concealed triplet of simple tiles (5 Pin), making 26 Fu, which rounds up to 30 Fu.
  • Points Calculation: A Non-dealer's Tsumo win with 2 Han 30 Fu is 500 (Non-dealer), 1000 (Dealer). You may also input 5, 1.

Q3.

How many points is this hand worth?

Tsumo
  • Han Calculation: East has been called (Pon) to make a melded triplet. The melded East is both the Prevalent Wind and the Seat Wind in the East round for the East player, establishing Prevalent Wind and Seat Wind 2 Han. The Dora indicator is 9 Pin, so the Dora is 1 Pin, and with one 1 Pin in the hand, that is Dora 1. There is one Red Dora (Red 5 Sou) making Red Dora 1, for a total of 2 Dora. Therefore, we can conclude the total is 4 Han, combining 2 Han for the value tiles and 2 Han for Dora.
  • Fu Calculation: Starting from the base 20 Fu, plus 2 Fu for Tsumo, 4 Fu for a melded triplet of honors/terminals, and 2 Fu for what can be considered a single wait on the 3 Sou, totaling 28 Fu, which rounds up to 30 Fu.
  • Points Calculation: 4 Han 30 Fu is a Mangan according to the rounded Mangan rule. A Dealer's Mangan Tsumo is 4000 ALL. You may also input 4.

Q4.

How many points is this hand worth?

Ron
  • Han Calculation: The called Red Dragon is one of the three dragons, establishing Red Dragon 1 Han, and a concealed triplet of West, which is the Seat Wind, establishes Seat Wind 1 Han. The Dora indicator is the Green Dragon, so the Dora is the Red Dragon, and with three Red Dragons in the hand, that is Dora 3. There is one Red Dora (Red 5 Man) making Red Dora 1. Therefore, the total is 6 Han, combining 2 Han for the value tiles and 4 Han for Dora.
  • Fu Calculation: Since the Han count is 5 or more, Fu calculation is meaningless. The calculation is omitted.
  • Points Calculation: 6 Han is a Haneman, and a Non-dealer's Haneman Ron is 12000 points. You may also input 12.

Q5.

Ron
  • Han Calculation: It is a Half Flush (one suit + honor tiles) with many melds. Because it is melded, it loses one Han, establishing Half Flush 2 Han, and holding one 3 Man Dora adds Dora 1 Han, for a total of 3 Han.
  • Fu Calculation: Starting from the base 20 Fu, plus 0 Fu for a melded Ron, 0 Fu for a dual pon wait, 2 Fu for a value tile (East) pair, and 4 Fu for a melded triplet of honors/terminals (South). (A triplet completed by Ron is treated as a melded triplet.) The total is 26 Fu, which rounds up to 30 Fu.
  • Points Calculation: A Non-dealer's 3 Han 30 Fu Ron is 3900 points. You may also input 39.

Ron
  • Han Calculation: Since the Green Dragon is melded, it is Green Dragon 1 Han, and no Dora or other special shapes are visible. Therefore, it is 1 Han.
  • Fu Calculation: Starting from the base 20 Fu, plus 0 Fu for a melded Ron, 0 Fu for a two-sided wait, and 4 Fu for a melded triplet of honors/terminals (Green Dragon). The total is 24 Fu, which rounds up to 30 Fu.
  • Points Calculation: A Non-dealer's 1 Han 30 Fu Ron is 1000 points. You may also input 1.

Tsumo
  • Han Calculation: Since it is a Tsumo win in a Riichi state, we start with Riichi 1 Han and Fully Concealed Hand 1 Han. Because it is an edge wait, Pinfu is not established, but since there are two identical sequences of 1-2-3 Sou, Pure Double Sequence 1 Han is established. With two 1 Sou Dora, that is Dora 2 Han. The total is 5 Han.
  • Fu Calculation: Since the Han count is 5 or more, Fu calculation is meaningless. The calculation is omitted.
  • Points Calculation: 5 Han is a Mangan. A Non-dealer's Mangan Tsumo is 2000 points (Non-dealer), 4000 points (Dealer). You may also input 2, 4.

Ron
  • Han Calculation: Since the White Dragon is melded, it is White Dragon 1 Han. In addition, there are 3 Dora (3 Pin, Red 5 Pin, Red 5 Sou), adding Dora 3 Han, for a total of 4 Han.
  • Fu Calculation: Starting from the base 20 Fu, plus 0 Fu for a melded Ron, 0 Fu for a two-sided wait, 2 Fu for a value tile (East) pair, and 4 Fu for a melded triplet of honors/terminals. The total is 26 Fu, which rounds up to 30 Fu.
  • Points Calculation: 4 Han 30 Fu is rounded up to a Mangan. A Dealer's Mangan Ron is 12000 points. You may also input 12.

Tsumo
  • Han Calculation: Since it is a Tsumo win in a Riichi state, we have Riichi 1 Han and Fully Concealed Hand 1 Han. There are no terminal or honor tiles, establishing All Simples 1 Han, and with 2 Red Dora (Red 5 Sou, Red 5 Pin) and 3 Ura Dora (three 8 Man tiles), Dora 5 Han is added, for a total of 8 Han.
  • Fu Calculation: Since the Han count is 5 or more, Fu calculation is meaningless. The calculation is omitted.
  • Points Calculation: 8 Han is a Baiman. A Non-dealer's Baiman Tsumo is 4000 points (Non-dealer), 8000 points (Dealer). You may also input 4, 8.
